Ala. Auditor Misses Swearing In To Welcome Son

Montgomery, AL – State Auditor Samantha Shaw missed the swearing-in ceremony with other state officials on the Capitol steps because she was at the Atlanta airport to welcome her son, Army Capt. Gregory Shaw, home from Afghanistan.

The new attorney general, Luther Strange, explained the absence of the two-term auditor to the inaugural crowd at midday Monday. He says wild horses couldn't keep Shaw from welcoming home her son.

Shaw scheduled a swearing-in ceremony later Monday afternoon in her Capitol office with her husband, Alabama Supreme Court Justice Gregory Shaw, presiding.
