Montgomery, AL – Former casino lobbyist Jarrod Massey has turned himself in at the federal courthouse in Montgomery to begin serving a federal prison sentence for offering bribes to Alabama legislators.
Massey pleaded guilty last month to bribery and conspiracy charges involving $1 million offers to legislators to support pro-gambling bills. He represented the Country Crossing development in Dothan.
Massey won't be sentenced until September. But he offered to begin serving time early because he expects to a long sentence.
Massey didn't make any comments as he entered the federal courthouse Wednesday carrying only a small nylon bag.
He's the second member of his lobbying firm to plead guilty in the federal investigation. Two casino owners and four present and former Alabama state senators are scheduled for trial in April.
