Montgomery, AL – Alabama's new physician governor, Robert Bentley, has canceled all meetings of the state board that coordinates health care planning and the board that decides whether hospitals can expand or add new services.
Bentley signed an executive order Tuesday temporarily stopping meetings of the State Health Coordinating Council and the Certificate of Need Review Board. Bentley said Wednesday he did it because he wants to review what issues are pending before the policymaking boards.
The executive director of the state Health Planning and Development Agency, Alva Lambert, said other governors have done the same thing at the start of their administrations.
