Montgomery, AL – The first training session mandated for Alabama lobbyists will be held Monday in Montgomery.
The new ethics laws enacted by the Legislature in December required training for the 654 people who are registered with the State Ethics Commission to be lobbyists at the Legislature.
The executive director of the Ethics Commission, Jim Sumner, said those who can't make Monday's class can attend sessions Feb. 23 or March 29. All classes will be in the Gordon Persons Building auditorium across the street from the Statehouse, where the Legislature meets.
A lobbyist for the state Medical Association, Mark Jackson, told the Gadsden Times that it's good to bring people up to speed on recent changes in the ethics laws.
