Birmingham, AL – Mayor William Bell says he's working on plans to fix up 84-year-old Legion Field and host more games at the historic stadium.
The mayor said Wednesday that he is negotiating with two colleges from outside Alabama who are interested in playing a football game at the stadium, and he hopes to draw other events as well such as soccer games.
Bell said he will ask city employees for a list of improvements needed for the stadium as the city prepares its budget for the upcoming fiscal year. He said he has no cost estimates yet, but said work is needed on its scoreboard and electronics equipment.
