Montgomery, AL – Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has set the schedule for a special election in Mobile County to fill a vacant seat in the Alabama House.
The House District 105 seat was left vacant when Republican Rep. Spencer Collier of Irvington was named director of the Alabama Department of Homeland Security.
Bentley said Wednesday the Democratic and Republican Party primaries for the vacant seat would be March 22, runoff elections if needed will be May 10 and the general election is set for June 28. Candidates have until noon on Feb. 8 to qualify with political parties to run for the vacant House seat.
House District 105 is in the southwest corner of Mobile County and includes the coastal communities of Bayou La Batre and Grand Bay.
