Montgomery, AL – The executive director of the Alabama Democratic Party, Jim Spearman, is resigning after six years of leading the party's day-to-day operations at its headquarters in Montgomery.
Spearman said Thursday it's time for new leadership. His last day is Friday, but he will remain active in the party by serving in one of the volunteer leadership posts, vice chairman for county affairs.
Spearman was appointed executive director when Redding Pitt was party chairman. He served throughout Joe Turnham's tenure as chairman. The party's new chairman, Mark Kennedy, will name Spearman's replacement.
