Gov. Bentley Says 'State Of The State' Talk To Be On Jobs

Montgomery, AL – Gov. Robert Bentley says his first ``state of the state'' speech will focus on bringing more jobs to Alabama and improving the state's struggling economy.

If he's successful, Bentley says it will mean paychecks for out-of-work Alabamians and a paycheck for one guy whose got a good job - himself.

The new governor made the comments Tuesday in a speech to more than 250 economic development specialists from across Alabama. Bentley repeated his promise that he won't take a paycheck until Alabama's unemployment rate has dropped to 5.2 percent. Alabama's unemployment rate was 9.1 percent in December.

The Republican governor will give his ``state of the state'' speech at the Capitol on March 1.
