Montgomery, AL – Gov. Robert Bentley is among 21 Republican governors who are asking the Obama administration to make changes in the new federal health care rules.
The governors sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius saying that without changes, they may decide not to run health insurance exchanges in their states. Instead, they would leave them to the federal government to administer.
The governors want more flexibility in deciding which companies are allowed to participate in the exchanges and which benefits are covered. The governors also said they prefer the law be thrown out, either by Congress or the courts.
Bentley is also among 28 GOP governors who are asking the president to support a quick review of the health care law by the U.S. Supreme Court.
