Four Calhoun County Officials Switch To GOP

Anniston, AL – The party switching by Alabama officials that began after big Republican victories in November has now spread to Calhoun County, where four Democratic officials have joined the GOP.

Probate Judge Alice Martin, Circuit Judge Brian Howell, License Commissioner Barry Robertson and voter registrar Carolyn Henderson announced their switch Monday night at a Republican meeting.

They join four state representatives and 11 county officials from Covington, Tuscaloosa and Limestone counties who previously made the switch.

Calhoun County Democratic Chairwoman Sheila Gilbert says the county has many well-qualified Democrats who could run for public office and the party looks forward to challenging the new Republicans at the ballot box next year.
