Montgomery, AL – An FBI agent says more than 12,000 phone calls were intercepted during more than a month of wiretaps on the phone lines of casino owners Milton McGregor and Ronnie Gilley and casino lobbyist Jarrod Massey.
FBI agent Douglas Carr testified Monday in a court hearing on the admissibility of phone calls recorded by the FBI in Alabama's gambling probe.
Carr said McGregor and Gilley began to suspect their main phones were tapped and began using second phones they thought were secure, but were also tapped.
Carr said the casino developers ``were more limited'' in the things they said on their main phones. The hearing is expected to continue through Wednesday.
Massey has pleaded guilty. McGregor and Gilley go on trial June 6 on bribery and conspiracy charges.
