Mobile, AL – Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions says he's going to continuing evaluating a Pentagon decision that cost Mobile and the surrounding Gulf Coast area thousands of jobs.
European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. said Friday it won't appeal the military's decision to let Boeing Co. build air refueling tankers under a $35 billion contract. A win by the European builder would have been big for Alabama since the company planned to assemble the aircraft in Mobile.
Sessions is a Republican from Mobile, and he says he will continue scrutinizing the military's decision even if the company isn't challenging it. Sessions say losing the aircraft deal was a great disappointment to Mobile.
The military previously gave the contract to the European builder, but a protest by Boeing resulted in the change.
