Ala. House Votes For More Financial Records Online

Montgomery, AL – The Alabama House is trying to put more state financial records online.

Republican Rep. Paul DeMarco of Homewood got the House to vote 97-0 Thursday for a bill that would require the state Finance Department to post monthly reports detailing the condition of the state General Fund and education budgets. DeMarco said some of the information is available online now in various reports, but his bill would increase government transparency by providing the information in one easily accessible place.

DeMarco's bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
