Montgomery, AL – A legislative committee has gone along with the governor's recommendation to wipe out funding for many parks and historical sites.
The Senate Finance and Taxation-General Funds committee voted unanimously Wednesday for a $1.8 billion general fund budget for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1.
It is $177 million larger than this year's budget, primarily due to increased funding for Medicaid.
To balance the budget, governor Robert Bentley recommend cutting out funding for many parks, historical sites and tourist attractions around the state.
The committee agreed with its unanimous vote.
