Montgomery, AL – Country Crossing casino developer Ronnie Gilley could be in prison until he's well into his 60s.
Gilley appeared in federal court Friday in Montgomery to plead guilty to 11 charges involving buying and selling votes on pro-gambling legislation. The 46-year-old developer also agreed to a sentencing range of 21 years and 10 months to 27 years and three months. His plea agreement provides the sentence could be less if he cooperates with federal prosecutors, including testifying against his co-defendants at their trial in June. His sentencing is set for Nov. 15.
In his plea, Gilley says he worked with indicted VictoryLand casino owner Milton McGregor to offer millions to legislators for their support of pro-gambling legislation. McGregor's attorney, Joe Espy, says his client has done nothing wrong.
