Montgomery, AL – Country Crossing casino developer Ronnie Gilley is out of jail temporarily and headed home to Enterprise under strict conditions of release.
A federal magistrate judge allowed Gilley to go free Tuesday morning pending his sentencing in November for offering millions in bribes to legislators to support pro-gambling legislation.
Gilley walked out of the Montgomery City Jail shortly after 11 a.m. and displayed the same irrepressible personality he had when trying to pass the legislation. He said his guilty plea Friday allowed him to stop living a lie and was probably the best thing that ever happened to him because it saved his soul.
Gilley was accompanied by his wife, Deidra, and attorney David Harrison.
