Birmingham Council Condemns New Immigration Law

Birmingham, AL – The Birmingham City Council has unanimously approved a resolution condemning Alabama's new law against illegal immigration.

Members called the law hateful and a step backward for the state during a meeting Tuesday.

Council members say the law should be delayed or repealed before it takes effect Sept. 1. But it's unclear what if any effect their resolution will have.

Council member Jay Roberson calls the law ``another black eye'' for Alabama.
