Montgomery, AL – A defense lawyer for indicted VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor is trying to show that McGregor and Country Crossing lobbyist Jarrod Massey did not have a close relationship and that McGregor was never involved in Massey offering bribes to legislators.
Attorney Bobby Segall questioned Massey on Wednesday during his fifth day on the witness stand in the Alabama's gambling corruption trial
Massey admitted that he criticized the work of McGregor and his lobbyists in trying to pass pro-gambling legislation. Massey also acknowledged that he took much of the credit for the Alabama Senate passing a gambling bill in March 2010.
Massey also testified that his boss, Country Crossing developer Ronnie Gilley, offered him financial interests in the Dothan casino not to plead guilty.
Massey returns to the witness stand Thursday.
