Gadsden, AL – Federal officials say the deadline is Monday for people affected by the April 27 tornadoes in Alabama to apply for federal assistance.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is again is urging storm survivors to return their Small Business Administration disaster loan applications.
FEMA officials say disaster survivors may not want a loan and are not obligated to accept one should it be offered. They're urging people to keep their options open, saying that applying for a loan opens the door for additional federal grants, while those who do not apply won't be eligible for those grants.
This is the second application deadline. The first was June 27, but Gov. Robert Bentley asked for and received a three-week extension.
