Athens, AL – Federal regulators will meet with the Tennessee Valley Authority next week to discuss additional inspections that are being planned at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in north Alabama.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the meeting will be held Tuesday in Atlanta, and it's open to the public.
The agency says it's giving the plant supplemental inspection because of a problem that was discovered with a valve on a cooling system last fall. The increased oversight will include reviews of a number of issues at Browns Ferry, including its safety culture.
The three-reactor Browns Ferry plant is located on the Tennessee River near Athens.
