Gov. Bentley Honoring Civil Rights Figure

Montgomery, AL – Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has ordered the flags on state government building lowered to half-staff in memory of civil rights leader Fred Shuttlesworth.

Shuttlesworth died Wednesday in a Birmingham hospital.

The governor called him ``a true pioneer for civil rights'' and ``an Alabama treasure.''

Bentley said the flags will remain lowered until sunset on the day of Shuttlesworth's interment.
