Gas Prices Fall In Alabama Ahead Of Holiday travel

Birmingham, AL – Prices at gas pumps across the state have declined in recent weeks as motorists prepare for holiday travel.

The average price for regular gasoline at stations in the Birmingham-Hoover metro area was $3.17 on Monday. That's down five cents in a week and 13 cents from a month ago, based on data collected by the AAA automobile club.

The Alabama average was just below $3.20 a gallon, down from $3.33 a month ago.

Clay Ingram, a spokesman for AAA-Alabama, said pump prices are falling because a seasonal drop in demand and an economy that remains sluggish.
