Huntsville, AL – After a yearlong probe, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is not going to sanction Alabama A&M University or put it on probation.
Alabama A&M President Andrew Hugine says the commission on colleges did not impose any sanctions against the university at its Dec. 6 meeting. Hugine says the investigation has been a distraction and he is pleased to put questions surrounding the college's practices to rest.
SACS still wants a full report by April 2012 showing the university has monitored its finances and resolved the issue that has now turned into a legal battle for the university to regain control over the A&M Research Institute, which handles government contracts.
