Security Precautions In Effect In 2 Alabama Areas

Centerpoint, AL – Two areas of Alabama heavily damaged by storms are taking security precautions.

Emergency management officials say Maplesville has a dusk-to-dawn curfew through Tuesday morning. Some roads remain closed in the Chilton County town.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department has set up checkpoints at entrances to areas that were heavily damaged. Spokesman Randy Christian says only residents and immediate family are being allowed in at this time.

State Attorney General Luther Strange says Alabama's law against price gouging is now in effect. He says the law kicked in Monday morning when the governor declared a state of emergency.

The attorney general also encourages storm victims to guard against home repair fraud by getting written estimates, asking for references and getting a written contract
