Prosecution On Maybe Last Witness In Gambling Retrial

Montgomery, AL – The lead prosecutor in Alabama's gambling corruption case has called what he says may be his last witness in the case.

Prosecutor Kendall Day called FBI agent George Glaser to the witness stand late Friday afternoon. His testimony will continue Monday.

Prior to Glaser's testimony, the prosecution sought to back up earlier testimony by Country Crossing developer Ronnie Gilley that he donated $200,000 to Sen. Harri Anne Smith's campaign to secure her vote for pro-gambling legislation.

Former political consultant Bryant Raby testified Friday that Gilley gave $200,000 to his political action committees in 2010 and then he sent $200,000 to other PACs at the direction of the senator's campaign consultant. But Raby said he never saw checks from those PACs to Smith and never talked to Smith about it.
