Alabama House Votes To Expand Film Incentives

Montgomery, AL – Two days after Alabama native Octavia Spencer won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in the movie ``The Help,'' the Alabama House has passed a bill that state officials hope will increase the number of movie and television productions filmed in Alabama.

The House voted 101-0 for the bill by Republican Rep. Terri Collins of Decatur. The legislation would expand the incentives the state can offer film companies in a year and increase the size of film projects that qualify for the incentives.

Collins said the bill offers a conservative increase in incentives and will increase the number of movies made in Alabama.

The bill now goes to the Senate for debate.
