When a kangaroo breaks into your apartment complex, who do you call?

LEILA FADEL, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Leila Fadel. If someone breaks into your apartment complex, you call the police. But what if the person breaking in is not a person?

(SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDING)

UNIDENTIFIED PERSON #1: 911, do you need police?

UNIDENTIFIED PERSON #2: There is a kangaroo in my apartment complex.

FADEL: A Florida sheriff's office released audio of yesterday's 911 call. The caller explained that the kind of large kangaroo was enclosed in the pool area of the complex. Deputies found the animal's owner, checked for proper registration and reunited the two. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
