Alta Ripa, or the "High River Bank," is an ancient name for the German city of Hanover.

The European Baroque group Musica Alta Ripa got their start there in 1984, but they're just making their U.S. radio debut now, on Performance Today.

They are in NPR's Studio 4A with host Fred Child, playing music by Georg Philipp Telemann.
