MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Farmers in south Alabama are worried about their crops with the approach of Tropical Storm Karen. Baldwin County farmer Mark Kaiser says he's working overtime to get his peanuts dug before the rain makes it hard to harvest them. Mobile County farmer Bert Driskell is concerned what the wind will do to his 3,400 acres of cotton. He's already started defoliating his cotton in preparation for harvest and that can make it more vulnerable to wind. Houston County farmer Colby Willoughby says more than two inches of rain could make it hard to get into his 1,350 acres of cucumbers and could cause some of the crop to rot. The Alabama coast and part of the Florida Panhandle are included in a hurricane watch.
