Show your support for Alabama’s waterways by participating in the 33rd Annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup scheduled for Saturday, September 19 through Sunday, September 27, 2020. The event is held at multiple sites in Mobile and Baldwin counties. In 32 years, over 100,000 volunteers have removed more than 850 tons of trash from Alabama’s valued coastline and waterways. Join us as we continue to Make Alabama the Beautiful! During the event, come prepared with sunscreen, a hat, gloves, shoes and lots of water. There are a few changes for our annual event due to COVID-19. This year’s cleanup will “kick off” on September 19, 2020. Select zones will have dumpsters in place through September 27, 2020. This should give volunteers time to spread out cleanup efforts without crowding and gathering within a narrow time frame. Volunteer safety is our number one priority. As such, we want to encourage proper social distancing and ask that you wear personal protective equipment when feasible. We also ask that you use the Clean Swell app to record your data collection. The app is free, easy and highly encouraged. You can download it on any mobile device. Your data will immediately upload and contribute to the International Coastal Cleanup database. Your efforts will help identify trends and provide researchers and policy-makers insight to create ocean trash solutions. Conditions can change.
