Severe weather delays start of the National Shrimp Festival

APR's Guy Busby

The Saturday opening of the National Shrimp Festival has been delayed after severe weather swept through the Gulf Shores area this morning. Festival spokesman Clayton Wallace says the event will open today as soon as the site is checked for damage. Visitors can check the festival Facebook site for opening time. This is the forty eighth edition of the annual seafood event. An estimated two hundred and fifty thousand people are expected to browse booths featuring food and arts and crafts.
