Police: 23 shots fired into vacant home of Alabama senator

Dozens of shots were fired into the house of Alabama Sen. Vivian Davis Figures early Thursday morning.

Figures was not in the Mobile home at the time. Lt. Christopher Levy said the firing of 23 shots "does not appear to be a random act."

Neighbors in the area said they heard the gunfire but did not see any suspects. Police did not receive a report of the shooting until Thursday afternoon.

Figures, who has served in the state Senate since 1997, has not released any comments on the incident.
