With Labor Day over, summer travel is on its way out. Moving into the fall, traveling Alabamans can expect gas prices to be a little lower.
That’s according to Clay Ingram. He’s the spokesperson for the Alabama branch of the American Automobile Association.
“Really since around fourth of July weekend our state average has been around $2.84 per gallon,” Ingram said. “I think that’s probably about what we will see for the next couple of weeks through the labor day weekend, and then once we get past that and get into the Fall, I think we can expect to see our prices to drop back down a little bit.”
Ingram said that travelers who are headed home from their Labor Day holiday might want to consider extending their stay by a day or two for a safer and shorter trip back home.
“Rather than coming back on Monday afternoon when everybody else does, you know, come back on Tuesday. Or maybe even Sunday night,” Ingram said. “Just do what you can to avoid those busier traffic, rush hour-type situations. You’ll get home a little quicker, it will probably be a little safer and it will definitely be a little less frustrating.”
