The National Labor Relations Board said today that a new union election must take place for Amazon’s Bessemer fulfillment center.

Earlier this year workers voted on whether or not the employees should be represented by the Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union, but only 2,536 votes were counted when there were about 6,200 workers employed with the center at the time.

The “no” votes won by a large margin after Amazon campaigned heavily against the union, but in August an official with the National Labor Relations Board determined that Amazon violated labor laws and that the employees need to vote again. Amazon plans to appeal the decision.
