The city of Mobile is highlighting sports giants from the area along its riverfront.
Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Willie McCovey, Satchel Paige, Billy Williams, Ozzie Smith and Robert Brazile Jr. are getting statues placed in the city's Hall of Fame Courtyard.
Five artists or teams of artists will be interviewed by a statue selection committee to compete for the chance to create the pieces. The committee plans to have the first statues erected next year and the rest in 2023.
