Senate advances effort to resist Biden gun actions

Joshua Blount/APR

The Alabama Senate has voted against executive actions by President Joe Biden aimed at combatting gun violence.

Legislation that would prohibit state and local officials from participating in the administration or enforcement of any presidential gun control order was passed with a 24-5 vote. Democrats in the Senate derided the measure as unconstitutional and election-year pandering.

The bill now moves to the House of Representatives.
