Matthew accepted the Associate Director of Membership position fall of 2017. He is a longtime fan of both Public Television and Public Radio. He attributes both to providing him with insight to a world and culture beyond rural, small-town America. Matthew was born and raised in a rural Central Illinois farming community. He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Illinois State University and Master of Arts degree in Human Services from the University of Illinois. He relocated to Tuscaloosa in 2012 and quickly fell in love with southern life and all it has to offer!
Prior to joining the APR team, his career was primarily focused on Behavioral Health Research and Training. Matthew has worked with diverse populations, professionals and organizations throughout the United States and Canada, striving to implement evidence-based practices to enhance management of Substance Use and Mental Health disorders. He is an accomplished public speaker and fundraiser. He has served in various leadership roles for several nonprofit organizations in both Illinois and Alabama. In his spare time, he loves to cook, garden and entertain. His favorite APR program is Milk Street Radio.
