CBS and the Debate over Ethics in Journalism

CBS News anchor Dan Rather apologizes for airing forged documents that challenged President Bush's National Guard service. The documents were not examined and authenticated as a CBS source had requested. NPR's Tavis Smiley looks at how the 60 Minutes story became the story. Hear Smiley and Kenneth Cooper, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and national editor of The Boston Globe, Susan Herbst, a professor of political science and liberal arts dean at Temple University, and Bryan Keefer, assistant managing editor of the campaign desk at the Columbia Journalism Review.
