NPR's Noah Adams talks with NPR's Don Gonyea about U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's recent announcement that he would step down. Ashcroft has been a controversial and embattled figure in President Bush's cabinet ever since his nomination, and recently underwent gall bladder surgery. The president announced Wednesday morning he will nominate White House chief counsel Alberto Gonzales to take Ashcroft's place.
