Merrill Wins GOP Runoff for Secretary of State

State Rep. John Merrill of Tuscaloosa has won the Republican nomination for secretary of state.

With 92 percent of the precincts reporting Tuesday night, Merrill had 53 percent to 47 percent for former Montgomery County Probate Judge Reese McKinney.

Merrill also led in the primary June 3.

Merrill advances to the general election Nov. 4 against Mobile retiree Lula Albert-Kaigler.
