Alabama: Nearly finished build for nitrogen gas executions

Alabama is almost done building a system that will carry out death sentences with nitrogen gas.

The Alabama Department of Corrections said the next step is to have the nitrogen hypoxia system reviewed by a safety expert.

Nitrogen gas has not been used by any states for execution, but Alabama joins Oklahoma and Mississippi as states that have authorized the untested use of it as means to carry out death sentences.
