The vote for unionization at the Amazon plant in Bessemer could have major implications throughout the country.

Over 6,000 workers are in the midst of voting whether or not to join the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union while seeking better working conditions, better pay and more respect.

Amazon is arguing that the company already offers more than twice the minimum wage in Alabama and offers workers health care, vision and dental insurance without paying union dues. The company is the second largest employer in the country.
