New Air Ambulance in Southeast Alabama, Alabama Voter Registration Day

A new emergency air ambulance service will soon begin providing medical transportation in Dothan and its surrounding areas.

A formal announcement and aircraft display will be held Wednesday for Wiregrass Life Flight.

The ambulance helicopter will be based in Dothan. It will be able to respond to emergencies as far as 300 miles away.  However it will be primarily responsible for providing service to southeast Alabama, southwest Georgia and north Florida.

The service is a joint business venture between Pilcher's Ambulance Service and Air Medical Resource Group.

Pilcher's Ambulance Service owner Joey Pilcher says the service is a "tremendous benefit" to the community that will have a rapid response with qualified personnel.

Tomorrow is National Voter Registration Day.

As fall draws closer, people all around Alabama are signing up to vote. More and more are doing so online. Voters can download the registration form instead of going to an office.

Alabama’s Secretary of State John Merrill says there are a number of requirements you must fulfil in order to cast a ballot...

“In order to be registered to vote, you have to have your identification to show where you are actually living, you must be a citizen of the United States, you must be 18 years old, and you cannot have been convicted of a disqualifying felony.”

All citizens that meet those requirements are highly encouraged to register to vote this month.

After suffering its first loss of the season, the 12th ranked Alabama football team is on to preparation for Louisiana Monroe.  The Crimson Tide was down by 19 or more points twice throughout the game before getting within one score late in the game.

Coach Nick Saban says the difference between winning and losing this past game is having the right fundamentals…

“I think our players had tremendous energy in this game.  But we have to learn to channel our energy and focus in to the right places so that we get better execution on a more consistent basis.”

Alabama had five turnovers in the game, including one on the opening kickoff.  Kickoff for Saturday’s game is 3 p.m. on the SEC Network.
