State health officials urge coronavirus precautions

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — State health and public school officials urged people to take precautions as coronavirus spreads across the country.

Alabama State Health Officer Scott Harris said that there have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Alabama, but he expects that to change at some point as the virus spreads across the country.

Harris said the state laboratory has so far tested 20 people for coronavirus, in addition to tests done at private labs, and no positive tests have been reported.
