Tuscaloosa, AL – Today Joplin, Missouri remembers the deadly tornado that ripped through their city killing over 160 people. Alabama recently recognized its own one year remembrance of the devastating April 27th tornadoes. Tom Coiner a film student at the University of Alabama had the unfortunate luck to be tied to both experiences. He went to school here, but he grew up in Joplin. Alabama Public Radio's Ryan Vasquez had a chance to talk to Tom about how both events affected him and to get his unique perspective on the two cities forever linked by disaster.
