TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Alabama authorities say they've wiped out a spate of toilet paper thefts by arresting a man accused of stealing dozens of rolls of bath tissue from a local market.

Trussville Police Detective Ben Short tells news outlets 50-year-old Ira Glover led officers on a short chase before they arrested him Tuesday.

Police say Glover was caught on security video swiping dozens of rolls of toilet paper from a pallet last week before attempting another theft Tuesday. Investigators think he's been trying to refill his janitorial business' supply.

LEVEL PLAINS, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama man flapping his arms like wings attacked a police officer with a flashlight and gashed the officer in the head.

Police in Level Plains arrested 51-year-old William Doran of Enterprise on Sunday. He's charged with second-degree assault and possession of marijuana.

Local new outlets report Doran was standing in the road near a convenience store "acting like a bird" and trying to get into a passing vehicle.

WAYNESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been charged with evading arrest after leading police on a chase from Alabama to Tennessee.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a news release Monday that Kyle Lee Jones fled a traffic stop by police in St. Florian, Alabama, on July 8, 2018. The state police agency says police pursued Jones through northern Alabama and into south Tennessee.

TBI says a Wayne County officer exited his car and ordered Jones to stop. Agents say Jones swerved toward the officer, who shot and hit the car.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a woman has been killed in a domestic assault in Alabama and that a man who had brought her to a hospital has been taken into custody.

AL.com reports that 31-year-old Jennifer Marie Lane died Sunday afternoon following the attack inside a home in Birmingham.
