BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The state of Alabama is offering a reward in the search for a 3-year-old girl who police say has been missing since she was abducted from a birthday party.

Gov. Kay Ivey's office announced a $5,000 reward Tuesday for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the disappearance of Kamille McKinney.

Authorities say the girl nicknamed "Cupcake" was kidnapped from a birthday party on Saturday by a stranger in a dark SUV.

One Birmingham police officer was killed and another was critically wounded in a shooting early Sunday morning as the officers questioned two people suspected of trying to break into cars.

Two suspects are in custody, one of whom was shot and is receiving medical treatment, according to police.

Authorities identified the officer who was fatally shot as Sgt. Wytasha Carter, 44, a member of the department since 2011. The names of the wounded officer and the suspects were not immediately released.
