Tuscaloosa, AL – Most of a 20 million dollar lawsuit filed against University of Alabama officials filed by former Alabama football coach Mike Price will be dismissed.
US District Judge Scott Coogler said yesterday that University trustees and President Robert Witt were immune from the suit because they fired Price while serving in their official capacities. However, Coogler did not immediately dismiss claims against Witt as an individual. Price says Witt is at fault for denying him due process following his firing. Coogler gave attorneys until October 10th to submit more documents on that claim.
Price did not have a signed contract when he was fired last Spring for failing to conduct himself in a manner consistent with university policy.
Price has also filed a 20 million dollar lawsuit against Sports Illustrated for a very descriptive article it published about his behavior during a trip to Pensacola, Florida.
