Birmingham, AL – The Alabama Power employees who have been helping restore electricity in Virginia are expected to return home today. About 280 workers have been there since September 20th. They were helping restore power to areas hit by Hurricane Isabel. Most of the company's line crews from Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, Mobile and Birmingham assisted Dominion Power Company. The hurricane knocked out electricity to about 82 percent of Dominion's customers. That's about one-point-eight million people. Some Alabama workers say the hours were long and the work was dangerous, but it was worth the effort.
