Washington, DC – A group of people advocating public display of the Ten Commandments is planning a protest in Washington, D-C today. The "Save the Commandments Caravan" has spent the past several days traveling along the east coast, making stops and gathering signatures. The group plans to hold a prayer rally in front of the U-S Supreme Court building to protest legal decisions that have blocked public displays of the Ten Commandments. The caravan also is conducting a petition drive urging the U-S Supreme Court to overturn lower court rulings banning the displays. The demonstration was prompted in part by the recent suspension of Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. He was reprimanded after he refused to remove his Ten Commandments monument from the state judicial building's rotunda. The monument was removed from public view in August.
